In the retail/commercial sphere, there are now three retail and restaurant corridors that flank several historic neighborhoods such that the residents and merchants are mutually supporting. Their success is relatively new, but these corridors provide a distinct amenity for their neighbors.
The Melrose District on 7th Avenue, (Indian School to Camelback) is now a blend of coffee shops, cafes, and is the place to shop for mid-century antiques. Melrose borders the Woodlea/Melrose historic district and the Pierson Place and Yaple Park districts.
Along McDowell from 16th St and 20th St, the former Miracle Mile is recovering, supported by the residents of the adjacent Coronado historic district to the north and Brentwood district on the south, as well as the thriving Garfield historic district

a few blocks further south. West of Central Avenue, the Grand Avenue Corridor is a prospering concentration of art galleries, boutiques and unique food venues. Grand Avenue borders Roosevelt, F.Q. Story and the Woodland historic districts.
Residents are patronizing the businesses in all these areas, leading to new vibrancy that bodes well for future prosperity.
